Progress & Potential Review

The review may be particularly helpful if:

• your child’s results seem inconsistent or do not reflect their apparent ability

• you are unsure whether they are fulfilling their academic potential

• school reports and assessment scores provide information but few clear answers

• your child may need greater challenge, more focused support or a different approach

• you are considering future schools, entrance assessments or scholarships

• you would value an independent perspective before speaking to your child’s school

• you want clearer priorities for the next stage of your child’s education

The Progress & Potential Review is currently designed for children in Years 5 and 6, usually aged 9 to 11.

This stage is particularly useful because families are often beginning to consider:

• whether their child is progressing in line with their potential

• preparation for the 11+ or ISEB Pre-Tests

• future senior-school choices

• possible scholarship pathways

• whether greater challenge or additional support may be needed

The review can help families understand the evidence before making decisions about the next stage of their child’s education.

Reviews for additional year groups will be introduced in due course.

Each review is personalised to the child and the questions their family would like answered.

Depending on age and circumstances, the review may draw upon:

• detailed parental information

• current and previous school reports

• existing assessment results, including CAT4, PTM, PTE or other school data where available

• examples of schoolwork

• relevant professional or specialist reports

• structured verbal reasoning diagnostics

• structured non-verbal reasoning diagnostics

• English and mathematics diagnostics

• the child’s interests, confidence, learning preferences and educational aspirations

The purpose is not to consider each result in isolation, but to identify the patterns that emerge when the evidence is viewed together.

You will receive:

• a personalised written review bringing the available evidence together

• a clear explanation of your child’s emerging educational profile

• identification of notable strengths, patterns and possible barriers

• practical recommendations for school, home and future planning

• guidance on whether further specialist assessment may be helpful

• a consultation to discuss the findings and answer your questions

The report is written for parents in clear, accessible language, without unnecessary jargon.

A single score rarely tells the whole story.

A child may show strong reasoning ability but weaker attainment. They may perform very differently across verbal, non-verbal, English and mathematics tasks. Confidence, attention, working habits, educational experience or a specific learning need may also affect the picture.

The value of the Progress & Potential Review lies in considering these factors together and identifying the issues that matter most.

The Progress & Potential Review is an educational service.

It does not provide:

• an IQ score

• a psychological assessment

• a medical or clinical assessment

• a formal diagnosis of dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD or another condition

Where the evidence suggests that further specialist assessment may be helpful, this will be explained clearly.

1. Initial enquiry

You tell us briefly about your child, your current concerns and the questions you would most like answered.

2. Information gathering

You complete a detailed parental information form and share relevant school reports, assessment results and other supporting information.

3. Educational diagnostics

Where appropriate, your child completes selected verbal, non-verbal, English and mathematics diagnostics.

4. Professional analysis

All available evidence is reviewed together to identify meaningful strengths, patterns and areas requiring attention.

5. Written review and consultation

You receive a personalised written report, followed by a consultation to discuss the findings, recommendations and next steps.

Progress & Potential Reviews start from £295.

The final fee will be confirmed following an initial enquiry and will reflect the scope of the review, the information available and the questions you would like addressed.

The agreed fee includes:

• review of relevant background information, school reports and existing assessment results

• selected educational diagnostics, where appropriate

• professional analysis of the evidence as a whole

• a personalised written report

• a consultation to discuss the findings, recommendations and next steps

Any external specialist assessment or additional work outside the agreed scope would be quoted separately.
